About the Artist:
Judy Scharmer is an artist who lives in Roswell, NM. She is originally from Colorado but has lived in the Land of Enchantment for many years. The warmth and beauty of New Mexico provides for many subjects for the artist. The warm colors and intense light are captured on canvases from Judy's impressionistic pallet. However, the Colorado memories are strong and many of her paintings are influenced by those majestic mountains and clear blue skies.
Judy has been inspired by her mother's own artistic ability as an accomplished watercolorist. Judy has been painting and drawing all of her life and is mostly self-taught in oils.
Statement from the Artist:
"First and foremost is that I simply enjoy painting. Painting is a solitary event, however, I never feel "alone" while painting in my studio. I become completely engrossed in the conversation between myself and the canvas with the story that I am sharing through the composition, brush strokes, and colors. Life provides us so much beauty in so many ways. From the fiery clouds surrounding a setting sun, the uniqueness of a dilapidated building or the feeling generated from seeing two figures holding hands. I hope that my paintings can "speak" to you a moment of warmth or a positive feeling as creating it has done for me."
